LESLIE BOCKIAN, founder and owner of CORPORATE SAFETY PROGRAMS, has been presenting self-protection workshops to a wide variety of community and professional organizations since 1980. Her commitment to assault prevention comes in part from six years volunteering as a crisis counselor for survivors of sexual assault.

A graduate of UCLA, she is also a Child Abuse Prevention Specialist (certified by the Southern California Rape Prevention Study Center at DiDi Hirsch Community Mental Health Centers in Culver City), a Child Sexual Assault Prevention Education Specialist (certified by the Southern California Child Abuse Prevention Training Center at California State University Los Angeles, headed by Dr. Hershel Swinger), and a Certified Self-Defense Instructor (certified by the Southern California Rape Hotline Alliance). In 2008, she received the Sharon Hamilton Woman Warrior Spirit Award from the organization Peace Over Violence, for outstanding work in the field of violence prevention.

Her areas of expertise include rape awareness and prevention, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual harassment in the workplace, stalking, crisis intervention, personal safety for daily life, and, of course, physical self-defense training.
